Arroz Ala Cubana Recipe

Serves 4
Preparation time 10-15 minutes
Cooking time 20-25 minutes

  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 piece medium onion, sliced
  • ¼ kilo ground pork
  • 100 grams sweet potatoes, diced
  • 1 pouch (200 grams) Tomato Sauce
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ⅓ cup cooked/frozen green peas (optional)
  • 4 cups hot cooked rice
  • 4 pieces eggs, cooked sunny side up
  • 3 pieces medium ripe saba bananas, sliced and fried

Cooking Procedure
1. Sauté garlic, onion and pork for 3 minutes. Add potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes or until mixture is slightly brown.

2. Add tomato sauce, raisins, salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Add peas. Simmer for another 3 minutes. Set aside.

3. On the plate, arrange sautéed meat mixture and fried saba around the cooked rice. Top with eggs.

Chicken Nuggets Casserole

Cooking time 15-20 minutes

  • 16 pieces (200 grams) frozen chicken nuggets
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 piece small onion, chopped
  • ½ piece chicken bouillon cube
  • ½ cup canned sliced mushrooms
  • 1 pouch (200 grams) Tomato Sauce
  • ¼ cup frozen green peas

1. Deep-fry chicken nuggets until golden brown. Set aside.

2. Sauté garlic, onion, bouillon cube and mushrooms for 2 minutes. Add tomato sauce, ½ cup water and salt to taste. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

3. Add green peas. Simmer for another 2 minutes. Pour over nuggets.

Burger Steak

Cooking time 15-25 minutes

  • 2 pieces (½ cup) sliced bread, diced
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 200 grams ground pork
  • 100 grams tokwa (tofu), chopped
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 piece medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons canned button mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ teaspoon patis (fish sauce)
  • 1 pouch (200 grams) Tomato Sauce

1. Combine bread and milk. Mix until bread is soggy. Combine with pork, tokwa, egg, onion, and half of garlic. Season with ¾ teaspoon iodized fine salt (or 2 ¼ teaspoon iodized rock salt) and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Mix well.

2. Form mixture into 3-4 tablespoons patties. Pan-grill in 3 tablespoons of oil until brown on both sides. Set aside.

3. Sauté remaining garlic, patis and mushrooms. Add tomato sauce, ½ cup water, and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Add meat patties. Allow to simmer.

Salmon Belly Sinigang (Salmon Belly Sour Soup)

Serves 4
Preparation time 10-15 minutes
Cooking time 25-30 minutes

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, pounded
  • 2 pieces chili finger, sliced
  • ½ cup tomato, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 cup kangkong leaves
  • 1 sachet Sinigang Mix (22 grams) Original
  • 4 cups water
  • ¼ cup radish, sliced diagonally
  • ½ cup okra (ladies' fingers), halved
  • ¼ cup sitaw (string beans), cut into 2-inch strips
  • ¼ cup eggplant, sliced diagonally
  • ½ kilo salmon belly

1. In a stock pot, heat oil. Sauté onion, ginger, garlic, and chili finger until fragrant.

2. Add tomatoes and sauté for 5 more minutes.

3. Pour in water and let boil. Once boiling, lower heat then add radish, okra, and sitaw. Cook for 5 minutes before adding eggplants and salmon belly.

4. Add Sinigang Mix and let boil once.

5. Season with fish sauce and then add kangkong leaves.

Pork Stew with a Twist

Serves 4
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 60 minutes

  • ½ kilo pork
  • 1 liter water
  • ½ cup sliced onions
  • 10 pieces whole peppercorn
  • 2 packs Pork Granules
  • 2 pieces medium sweet potatoes, cubed
  • 1 cup sliced cabbage
  • ¼ cup sliced spring onions
  • fish sauce to taste

1. Place pork, water, and onions in a pot. Bring to a boil, then add peppercorns. Let simmer for 45 minutes or until pork is tender.

2. When pork is close to tender, pour in the pork granules.

3. Add the sweet potatoes and simmer for another 10 minutes.

4. Remove from heat and add remaining vegetables. Add fish sauce to taste. Serve hot.
